Camgirl
Meaning
Camgirls are live entertainers, performing in front of a webcam, often making pornographic content.
Basically, camgirls are the home office workers of the porn industry, most often entertaining the viewers from their home’s warmth, by stripping, dancing or masturbating, although there are some camgirls, who don’t make erotic content.
Their shows are usually divided into two sections; free and pay-to-watch, although they have incomes from free shows as well, in form of tips which sometimes activates a remote vibrator.
Origin
The first camgirl mentioned on the internet is Jenny Ringley, a then American student, who created the website “JenniCam” in 1996.
She set her webcam to take a picture of her every few minutes, while she’s going on with her life, like normal, as well as stripping and dancing in front of the camera sometimes.
Jenny had already divided her site into paying and free sections.
Spread and Usage
In 1998, AmandaCam was launched, which brought a grand innovation to the soon to be industry.
Namely, it was Amanda, who discovered that her site has more appeal to viewers if they can chat with her during shows.
This set the ground for the whole industry to blow up, like the gas station I threw my cigarette at. Today camera modeling, if done right can bring a $100 000 a year to the model.
